I enjoyed Lois' lessons a lot - they were very engaging, and kept a lot of students interested which benefitted them massively. Even if they’re a little bit more interested in the subject or topic, they’re going to learn more. I also think she helped students by having such good subject knowledge, which meant students could ask anything and she was always able to answer it and more.

Lois takes the technical and nurtures it into the beautiful. She takes time to understand your business and to ensure that content not only reflects the what but also the how. Lois makes the transition from the need to read through to the want to read, which really delivers results for your business. Highly recommend approaching Lois if you need to get your message absorbed rather than just read.
(I still write copy if you need some words with energy for your business - it's just not something I'm shouting about at the moment.)

Having been a close colleague of Lois, I have seen her inspirational and motivating teaching at close quarters. She is able to combine both a genuine love for words and a forensic appreciation of the craftsmanship needed to use them expertly, together with the people skills necessary to communicate complex ideas effectively and precisely with her students and tutees. She is a firm believer in the clear benefits of reading for pleasure, and is always able to recommend and advise the texts that can enthuse a reluctant reader or inspire a keen reader to develop their skills and interest further. Lois teaches with warmth, humour and very much 'with' rather than 'to' her students.
Lois was my English literature teacher throughout my A-levels, and is part of the reason I am currently training to teach. She was professional, highly effective and inspirational. Lois’s command and understanding of language furthered my thinking and challenged the extent to which I thought I could achieve.
When preparing us for our exams, Lois would use an analogy of ‘handing the examiner a glass of bubbly’; this was exactly the atmosphere that Lois created in her classroom. Each session was refreshing, productive, and I left feeling as though I had, indeed, had a tipple! When it comes to the punchy, engaging use of words, Lois is a master of her craft. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I remember leading the student panel when Lois had her first interview at St Nicholas’ Catholic High School. As soon as she entered the room I met her energetic and warm personality. Immediately, I knew that Lois was someone who would see my ambition and passion for English. I knew that with her innovative teaching techniques and way with words, I could trust Lois to help get me to the highest standard possible. Achieving an A in English Language A-level, Lois pushed me to my full potential, supporting me throughout my coursework and exams. She was a teacher who saw my passion for communication, both linguistically and graphically, and nurtured this throughout my time at St Nicholas’. Her energy and bubbly personality made English lessons fun and helped me to make connections between English and my other A-level subjects: Psychology and Art. I now have a First Class BA in Graphic Communication and am going on to study at postgraduate level. The skills I have learnt from Lois and, additionally the wise words she instilled in me are still with me in everyday life; from writing my dissertation to pitching my design ideas.
